Our Girl Scout troop wanted to do a community project and give something back to others. For their project, they chose an organization called “Project Ignite Light.”
Project Ignite Light is an organization, based out of North Dakota, where children are provided important items needed when they are examined by their local advocacy center or hospital for physical abuse, sexual abuse or neglect. It is the goal of Project Ignite Light to equip each child that enters a hospital or advocacy center to be seen for these reasons with a “Bag of Hope.”
In the bags, they include pj’s, toothbrushes, books, flashlights, teddy bears and a fleece tie blanket. When approached, our students decided to create blankets for children who may be scared. They hoped the blankets would give them a little bit of comfort.
The girls worked for over 1 1/2 hours making these blankets. Their thoughtful efforts will now help children feel warm and safe.
